These "A-ha!" moments will transform your brand

Three Brand Lessons from my Brand Kickstart Clients

Hey there,

Since doubling down on my Brand Kickstart sessions, I’ve noticed a pattern. Service-based small business owners tend ot have the same a-ha moments when they’re working through my brand strategy process.

And if you’re also building your brand, these quick callouts might save you some time (and headaches).

A-Ha #1: I’m Fishing in the Wrong Pond

Brand Kickstart begins with a focus on your audience. As we work together to build Ideal Client Personas, founders often look back at months (or years) of conversations that went nowhere.

They’ve been pitching to people who were never going to buy, explaining their value over and over to the wrong audience, and wondering why every sales call feels like an uphill battle. The problem isn’t their offer—it’s that they’re fishing in the wrong pond.

When you’re talking to the right people, your brand doesn’t have to convince—it clicks. In Brand Kickstart, we identify who’s worth your energy (and who isn’t) so you can stop chasing lukewarm leads and start having conversations that go somewhere.

A-Ha #2: Simplicity Sells

You know your business inside and out. But your audience doesn’t. The more you can simplify your messaging, the more people get it. Before you focus your energy on long-winded storytelling (though, you know I love that, too!), think through the following questions:

  • What is my ideal client’s life like before they meet me?

  • What is it like to work with me?

  • How does their life change after our work together ends?

One of my favorite parts of Brand Kickstart is when I (a simpleton!) get to ask “what does that mean?” over and over again until we cut out the jargon of your marketing and distill your message into something your ideal customer instantly understands.

I'm so impressed with how well [Jamie] interpreted and put into words what my business does and how I want to show up for my clients.

A-Ha #3: The Best Brands Have Tension

As solo founders and fractionals, we have the advantage of bringing our whole selves to our business.

Strong brands don’t just stand for something—they stand against something, too. Without that contrast, you risk blending into the sea of service providers flooding the algorithm.

In Brand Kickstart, we dig into what makes you different—what you believe, what you refuse to compromise on, and how to use that tension to attract the right people while pushing away the wrong ones. Because the best brands aren’t for everyone—they’re for the right ones.

These a-ha moments don’t just make your brand clearer—they make growing your business easier. No more wasted time and energy. No more chasing shiny objects.

Past Brand Kickstart clients have walked away with a brand that finally makes sense to them—and their audience. They’ve gained clarity on their messaging, confidence in their positioning, and a marketing strategy they can actually use.

They’ve told me how the process felt energizing instead of overwhelming, how they finally saw their brand’s potential, and how they left with real, actionable next steps—not just ideas but a roadmap.

If that’s what you’re looking for, Brand Kickstart is for you.
